The Green Mile

(1999)Directed by Frank Darabont189 min · RFantasy, Drama, Crime
“Paul Edgecomb didn't believe in miracles. Until the day he met one.”

Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) runs the death row block at a Southern prison during the Great Depression, and a new inmate arrives who unsettles him. John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) is enormous and gentle, and he has a power to heal that nobody on the block can explain. Frank Darabont, adapting Stephen King's novel, lets the film run long and slow, so the days on the block feel as heavy as the men living them.
