The Green Ray

It is July in Paris, and Delphine (Marie Rivière) has no plans for her summer holiday after a friend backs out at the last minute. Éric Rohmer shot the film on 16 mm with much of the dialogue improvised, following her from one borrowed bed and one half-hearted invitation to the next. She sits with her anxieties in the company of friends, wanting to be anywhere but alone.
