The Green Room
A room in a small French town stays exactly as a dead woman left it, kept up by her widower, Julien Davenne (François Truffaut). When fire destroys it, he refuses to let her go and turns an abandoned chapel into a shrine. Truffaut, adapting Henry James, directs himself in the lead, and Julien's grief hardens into a private religion that he guards and tends alone.
