The Green Years

Júlio (Rui Gomes) is nineteen and has left the provinces for Lisbon, wanting a trade and a place in the city. He finds work as a shoemaker for his uncle Raúl (Ruy Furtado). Then Ilda (Isabel Ruth), a confident young housemaid, starts dropping by the shop, and Paulo Rocha, in his first feature, follows Júlio as the pull of her world works against everything he has been taught to value.
