“Tonight, while the world is asleep... an ancient evil is about to awaken.”

Phil (Dwier Brown) and Kate Sterling (Carey Lowell) have a newborn son and need someone they can trust in the house, so they hire Camilla (Jenny Seagrove), a gentle young nanny who seems to love him from the first day. William Friedkin sets the story in suburban Los Angeles, where every person Camilla meets has a reason to like her. Under the lullabies sits a plain fear about handing your child to a stranger.
