The Guilty

“Listen carefully.”

Joe Baylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a police officer pulled off the street and parked at an emergency dispatch desk, where he spends his shifts with a headset and a screen. One night a frightened woman calls in, and Antoine Fuqua keeps the camera on Joe while the voices of Riley Keough and Ethan Hawke reach him down the line. Everything the film knows about her comes through a phone, and what Joe does with that is the whole question.
