The Guns

A squad of armed soldiers rides into the dry backlands of Brazil's Northeast to guard a food depot from a starving crowd. Gaúcho (Átila Iório), a truck driver, watches from the middle, friendly with the soldiers and angry that the government has done nothing about the hunger. Ruy Guerra's film is about what hunger does to a place, and who is paid to stand between the hungry and the food.
