The Gypsy Camp Vanishes Into the Blue

Zobar (Grigore Grigoriu), a horse thief, rides into a Roma camp in early twentieth-century Bessarabia and sees Rada (Svetlana Toma), a girl who answers to no one. Emil Loteanu adapts the early Gorky stories with fiddle music, loud weddings, and horses running free across open fields. Rada is proud and Zobar has never been tied to anything, and loving each other puts both of them at risk.
