The Handmaiden

“You're the one being tricked.”

Sook-hee (Kim Tae-ri), a street orphan and con artist, is hired as a handmaiden to Lady Hideko (Kim Min-hee), a reclusive heiress on a sprawling estate. Count Fujiwara (Ha Jung-woo) has a plan to seduce and swindle her, but what happens between the two women proves more complicated than theft. The film suggests that desire and deception are often the same thing, and that what we steal from each other is sometimes what we most want to give.
