The Happening

“We've sensed it. We've seen the signs. Now...it's happening.”

Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) is a science teacher who finds himself fleeing the northeastern United States with his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) after an airborne toxin starts killing people in the cities. Nobody can say whether it is terrorism, a leaked military weapon, or a force no one has a name for. M. Night Shyamalan follows them out of the cities and into open country, where they stand in a field and watch the grass bend toward them.
