Oscar Wilde (Rupert Everett) was the most famous writer in London until a conviction for gross indecency sent him to prison for two years of hard labor. Everett, making his directorial debut, follows him into exile in France, where Reggie Turner (Colin Firth) and Robbie Ross (Edwin Thomas) stay close while Bosie Douglas (Colin Morgan) remains the man he can't leave behind. Wilde spends his last years poor, and Constance (Emily Watson) is a memory he carries.
