Los Angeles is a city where humans and puppets live side by side, and the puppets get the worse end of it. The cast of a beloved 1990s children's show are being killed one by one, and Phil Philips (Bill Barretta), a puppet who left the LAPD to work as a private eye, takes the case at his old boss's request. Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson, sets Phil beside his former partner, Detective Connie Edwards (Melissa McCarthy), a human who has to work with him.
