The Hate U Give

“Two worlds. One voice. No going back.”

Starr Carter (Amandla Stenberg) just wants to keep her two lives apart: the poor neighborhood where she grew up and the suburban prep school where she fits in by staying quiet. Then she watches a police officer shoot her unarmed best friend, and George Tillman Jr. keeps the camera close on her as she weighs speaking up. If she does, she risks her family's safety, her place at school, and the version of herself that holds both worlds together.
