The Haunting

“Some houses are born bad.”

Nell (Lili Taylor), a lonely woman with nowhere else to be, answers a notice for a sleep study and finds herself at Hill House, an isolated manor in western Massachusetts. Dr. David Marrow (Liam Neeson) has gathered her and two other volunteers there, though what he wants to study is the house itself. Jan de Bont frames the corridors and staircases so tightly that the building seems to press in on everyone inside.
