The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter

A deaf-mute named John Singer (Alan Arkin) lives a quiet, narrow life in a small town, which is where the story starts. Into it comes Mick Kelly (Sondra Locke), a girl who dreams of becoming a concert pianist and meets him with hostility. Robert Ellis Miller follows the two as she begins to open up to him, and he, in turn, lets her into his small world.
