Ice Storm

In the Netherlands in 1963, nearly 10,000 skaters line up on natural ice for the Elfstedentocht, a 120-mile tour that runs on a frozen winter and nothing else. Steven de Jong follows several of them, among them Dieuwke (Chantal Janzen) and Henk Brenninkmeijer (Cas Jansen), as the temperature drops to -18 °C and a harsh eastern wind picks up. Along the route, the skaters push through powder snow, and the people beside them are all they have to lean on.
