The High Note

(2020)Directed by Nisha Ganatra113 min · PG-13Romance, Comedy, Music, Drama
“You've got to start at the bottom before you take it from the top.”

Maggie Sherwoode (Dakota Johnson) spends her days in Los Angeles fetching coffee and running errands for Grace Davis (Tracee Ellis Ross), a superstar whose talent and ego are both enormous. Nisha Ganatra keeps the film in recording studios and on stage, close to the music Maggie secretly wants to make. Grace's manager Jack (Ice Cube) puts a career-changing choice in front of his client, and Maggie wants to be a producer more than she wants to stay an assistant.
