“Beyond darkness... beyond desolation... lies the greatest danger of all.”

Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) is a hobbit far from his armchair, and in his pocket he carries a plain gold ring he has told no one about. Having slipped out of the Misty Mountains, he travels on with Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), the dwarf who wants his stolen gold back from the dragon Smaug. Peter Jackson sets the rest of the company's trust in Bilbo against the secret he is keeping from them.
