A fortune sits in a Swiss bank, left behind by a man who once stood close to Hitler and wanted it spent on atonement. His son, Noel Holcroft (Michael Caine), can reach it only by chasing the trail across the world. John Frankenheimer sends him toward Johann von Tiebolt (Anthony Andrews) and Helden von Tiebolt (Victoria Tennant), and he cannot tell which of them is helping him.
