The Honest Candidate

“He is a politician. He is honest. Believe it or not.”

João Ernesto (Leandro Hassum) is a corrupt politician in the runoff for Brazil's presidency, ahead in the polls, when his dying grandmother puts a mandinga on him. From then on he cannot tell a lie. Roberto Santucci builds the comedy around that one problem: a campaign has to run on promises, and João Ernesto can only say what is true. He has the charm to carry a crowd, and now has to find out what a man like him can do with it.
