“The time to hide is over. The time to regret is gone. The time to live is now.”

Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) is fighting depression in 1920s England while she writes Mrs Dalloway. Stephen Daldry follows her alongside Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), a pregnant housewife in 1951 California, and Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), who in 2001 New York is planning a party for her friend Richard, a poet dying of AIDS. Each woman is reading or living the same book, and the three days slowly start to lean on one another.
