The House of Rothschild

“He Broke the Sword of Napoleon with a Stroke of His Pen”

How does a family of Jewish money-changers, starting from a cramped Frankfurt ghetto, end up holding the purse strings of a European war? George Arliss plays both the patriarch Mayer Rothschild and his son Nathan, who carries the family's business into London. Alfred L. Werker sets them against Count Ledrantz (Boris Karloff), whose prejudice threatens to bar the family from the courts and the trade they are working to enter.
