The House of Sand
In 1910, a pregnant young woman (Fernanda Torres) is brought to a stretch of dunes by a husband who wants to settle there, and he is soon gone. Andrucha Waddington filmed it inside Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, with Torres and her real mother Fernanda Montenegro sharing the role across the decades. Áurea spends fifty-nine years planning her way out and never quite leaving.
