The House on Trubnaya

Parasha Pitunova (Vera Maretskaya) leaves her country home for the big city and a job as a maid, though the household she lands in has little to say about where she came from. Boris Barnet puts her among the Golikovs and the neighbors crowded into one overworked, underpaid building, a place that wants her labor and not much else. She has come for wages, and what she can keep of her own laughter and her own heart is not guaranteed.
