A Scotland Yard investigator looks into a run of strange cases that all lead back to one empty house. Each tenant gets a story of their own: Charles Hillyer (Denholm Elliott), Philip Grayson (Peter Cushing), and John Reid (Christopher Lee) among them. Peter Duffell shoots the four tales in the plain, grainy manner of a 1971 British production, and Robert Bloch's scripts set the order of them.
