The Hucksters

(1947)Directed by Jack Conway115 minDrama, Romance, Comedy
“Gable's New Star is Deborah Kerr (rhymes with star)”

In 1947, with the war behind him, Victor Albee Norman (Clark Gable) comes home to the radio advertising business and wants to work on his own terms. That is harder than it sounds, with Evan Llewellyn Evans (Sydney Greenstreet) running a soap account and Jack Conway's film keeping Victor under the thumb of men who sell for a living. Along the way he falls for Kay Dorrance (Deborah Kerr), while Jean Ogilvie (Ava Gardner) pulls him another way.
