The Human Comedy

“Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Great Production”

In 1943, the small town of Ithaca, California, is waiting out the war, and the Macauley family waits with it. Homer (Mickey Rooney), still a teenager, stays home to help support his mother (Fay Bainter) while his older brother Marcus prepares to ship out. Clarence Brown keeps his attention on the two brothers, one leaving and one left behind, and on whatever passes between them before the train.
