The Humbling

“Older but not wiser.”

Simon Axler (Al Pacino) has come out of a breakdown and a suicide attempt, and the stage that made his name no longer feels like his. Into his emptied-out life walks Pegeen Mike Stapleford (Greta Gerwig), a woman far younger than he is, and he lets himself be pulled toward her. Barry Levinson watches the two of them try to share a life, the gap between his age and hers sitting in the room with them.
