The Hunchback

(1997)Directed by Peter Medak98 minDrama, Romance, TV Movie

Quasimodo (Mandy Patinkin), the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame, wants only what the city has always kept from him, to be looked at without flinching. His love goes to Esmeralda (Salma Hayek Pinault), the gypsy girl, while the cathedral's archdeacon, Dom Frollo (Richard Harris), holds his own claim on both of them. Peter Medak adapts Victor Hugo's novel for television, and the story stays with how cruelly a face decides what a person is allowed to feel.
