Lucas (Mads Mikkelsen), a kindergarten teacher in a small Danish village, is falsely accused of abusing a student after a confused child's misplaced trust turns into a damning story. The accusation spreads through the town like winter fog, and soon parents and neighbors believe him guilty. As Christmas approaches, Lucas fights to prove his innocence while the village closes in, and the cost of survival becomes impossible to measure.
