The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting

(1978)Directed by Raúl Ruiz66 minDrama, Mystery

A Collector (Jean Rougeul) guides us through a set of paintings that someone insists are connected, though no one says how. Raúl Ruiz places living people inside three-dimensional reproductions of each canvas, and the on-screen Narrator (Gabriel Gascon) walks among them, answering a second voice we never see. If the series has a meaning, it depends on a theory that sounds more convincing with each room.
