The Illusionist
“When life loses its wonder, all it takes is one person who still believes in magic.”
Tatischeff (Jean-Claude Donda) is an aging stage illusionist in the late 1950s who just wants to keep working while rock and roll fills the halls where his rabbit and his cards used to play. He takes a booking in a remote Scottish village and meets Alice (Eilidh Rankin), a young woman who believes his magic is real. Sylvain Chomet animates the script Jacques Tati wrote in 1956, and Tatischeff carries Tati's own gestures and walk.
