“He's not losing his daughter. He's gaining a madman.”

Days before his daughter's wedding, Jerry Peyser (Albert Brooks), a mild-mannered foot doctor, learns that Steve Tobias (Michael Douglas), the groom's father, deals in international smuggling. Andrew Fleming sends the two men chasing each other through Chicago while the families keep planning the ceremony. Underneath the chaos is a plain problem: two strangers must trust each other because their children are about to make them family.
