The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete

“Only the strong Rise Above.”

Nobody comes back for Mister (Skylan Brooks) and Pete (Ethan Dizon) when their mothers are taken away by the authorities, and the summer starts with the two boys alone in their inner-city neighborhood. Mister is thirteen and sure of himself, Pete is younger and takes his lead, and George Tillman Jr. follows them as they scrape together food and money. Whatever the neighborhood throws at them, the one thing they hold onto is each other.
