The Inn of the Sixth Happiness

Gladys Aylward (Ingrid Bergman) is turned away as a missionary, so she works as a domestic in England until she can pay her own passage to a poor, remote village in China. There she runs an inn, inspects feet for the local Mandarin (Robert Donat), and draws the notice of Captain Lin Nan (Curd Jürgens). Mark Robson follows her into the war, when Japan invades and the children of the region have no one else to protect them.
