The Inner Scar

A woman (Nico) crosses desert, ice and open ground in robes, joined along the way by a child (Christian Aaron Boulogne), a shepherd, a horseman and a man who is also the Devil (Philippe Garrel). Garrel shot it in Egypt, the United States and Iceland, and Nico's songs, "Abschied" and "Janitor of Lunacy" among them, run under the slow, wordless encounters. Her pale figure keeps moving through those landscapes, small against all that sand and snow.
