“Deeply moving and emotionally layered.”

A nun slips out of a Polish convent in December 1945 and asks a French Red Cross doctor for help. Mathilde Beaulieu (Lou de Laâge) follows her inside, where several of the sisters are pregnant and hiding it, unable to square their faith with what has happened to them. Anne Fontaine builds the film around the doctor and Maria (Agata Buzek), the nun who first came for her, and the trust that has to grow between them.
