The Inquisitor

Inspector Antoine Gallien (Lino Ventura) is a tired, plain-spoken policeman working New Year's Eve in a provincial station. Across the desk sits Jérôme Martinaud (Michel Serrault), a respected notary who came in voluntarily to help with two murders he is suspected of committing. Claude Miller turns a routine statement into a long night of questioning, where the issue is how well one man can ever know another, even a wife.
