The Insult

“Words change everything.”

A leaking drainpipe on a Beirut balcony turns into a shouting match between Tony Hanna (Adel Karam), a Lebanese Christian, and Yasser Abdallah Salameh (Kamel El Basha), a Palestinian refugee working on the street. Words are exchanged, and the quarrel ends up before a judge, then in the national press. Ziad Doueiri builds the case from courtroom procedure, and both men now stand to lose their families' peace and their own names.
