“His greatest story was the one he could never tell.”

In 1857, Charles Dickens (Ralph Fiennes) is the most famous writer in England, married to Catherine (Joanna Scanlan), when he meets Nelly Ternan (Felicity Jones), a teenage stage actress. Nelly becomes the person he writes toward, and both of them pay for it in secrecy. Ralph Fiennes directs, and Nelly is left holding what she is not allowed to say.
