(2006)Directed by Pavel Lungin112 min · PG-13Drama, Comedy

Father Anatoli (Pyotr Mamonov) lives at a small Orthodox monastery in Northern Russia, a man whose odd behavior puzzles the other monks. Visitors cross to the island anyway, convinced he can heal the sick, cast out demons and foretell the future. Pavel Lungin keeps Mamonov in a stoker's soot-black clothes and a hut by the shore, the coal heaped beside him.
