The Isle

“A beautiful yet dangerous place...”

Hee-jin (Suh Jung) is a mute woman who runs a fishing resort in the Korean wilderness, renting out small floating huts and selling bait, food and sometimes herself to the men who come to fish. When Hyun-shik (Kim Yu-seok), a fugitive from the police, arrives and tries to take his own life, she pulls him back with a fish hook. Kim Ki-duk films the still water and the cramped huts with a restraint that makes everything outside the frame feel closer.
