The Karate Kid

“A challenge he never imagined. A teacher he never expected.”

Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) steps off the plane in China at twelve, dragged from Detroit by his mother's new job, and by the end of his first week the class bully Cheng (Zhenwei Wang) has made him a target. His only help is Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), the maintenance man in his building, who turns out to be a kung fu master. Harald Zwart's film is about a boy learning that strength comes from calm and maturity, not from throwing a harder punch.
