The Kautokeino Rebellion

In Kautokeino in 1852, the Sami are being cheated by Norwegian merchants and officials who profit from their trade, and a religious revival begins to stir the village against it. Aslak Hætta (Mikkel Gaup) and Elen Skum (Anni-Kristiina Juuso) are among those drawn into it, and Nils Gaup films their community from the inside. Their shared anger and faith bind the two of them closer than anything else in the village does.
