The Keeping Room

“Some things are worth fighting for.”

Augusta (Brit Marling) is a Southern woman running a farmhouse with her sister Louise (Hailee Steinfeld) and Mad (Muna Otaru), their slave, as the Civil War nears its end. When two drunken soldiers on a spree of pillage and violence track Augusta home, the three women have to take up arms. Daniel Barber keeps the camera close on the house and the women inside it.
