The Kid

“Nobody ever grows up quite like they imagined.”

A chubby eight-year-old in glasses turns up at Russ Duritz's door, and he is the exact image of the boy Russ used to be. Russ (Bruce Willis) is a forty-year-old image consultant who coaches other people on how to be liked, and Rusty (Spencer Breslin) cheerfully tells him he's a lonely guy with no dog and no friends. Jon Turteltaub builds the comedy around a grown man being measured against what he promised himself as a kid.
