The Kids Are All Right

“Nic and Jules had the perfect family, until they met the man who made it all possible.”

Nic (Annette Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore) have raised two teenagers, Joni (Mia Wasikowska) and Laser (Josh Hutcherson), without ever meeting the man whose donation made them. Then the kids contact him behind their mothers' backs, and Paul (Mark Ruffalo) walks into the house as a stranger with a claim on everyone in it. Lisa Cholodenko keeps the camera close to the family's kitchen-table talk, and lets the comedy come out of how a household actually sounds.
