“Nobody Sees It Coming”

Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) wants nothing more than to stay what his west Texas town already believes he is: a patient, polite deputy sheriff, a little slow and a little dull. Nobody knows about the "sickness" he keeps hidden, the one that makes him a brilliant and disturbed sadist. Michael Winterbottom adapts Jim Thompson's 1952 novel with Affleck's soft drawl set beside what Lou does, and he never looks away.
