The Killer Is Loose

A savings-and-loan bank is robbed in 1956, and a police wiretap leads to Leon "Foggy" Poole (Wendell Corey), the meek teller who helped from the inside. In taking him, Detective Sam Wagner (Joseph Cotten) shoots Poole's wife by accident, and at the trial Poole swears he will get even. Budd Boetticher keeps the camera close and the pace tight, so the threat arrives without any show of force.
