The Killing of Sister George

“The story of three consenting adults in the privacy of their own home.”

June "George" Buckridge (Beryl Reid) plays Sister George, a beloved district nurse on a television soap, and she carries the part home with her, loud and drinking and sure of her place. Then word gets around that the character may be written out, just as her long relationship with the much younger Alice "Childie" McNaught (Susannah York) starts to fray. Robert Aldrich keeps the story in a few cramped rooms and lets the arguments run long.
